My name is Teresa Garcia and I started Florida International University (FIU) in the Fall of 2017. Having graduated from the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) - Wolfson Campus, I was able to complete over 60+ college credits during my high school years. This allowed me to further explore my interests and passion for culture and international economics during my years at FIU. While at FIU, I pursued a dual degree in Economics and International Relations as well as obtained multiple undergraduate certificates such as Latin America and Caribbean Studies, European and Eurasian Studies, and Asian Globalization and Latin America.

As I continued to learn and enjoy the global exposure that FIU has to offer, I was able to become a student leader on-campus on top of being a student assistant at FIU Online. I had the honor to serve as the President for the Brazilian Culture Club, the Senior Vice-President of Registration for the Registered Student Organization (RSO) Council, as well as the CSO (now RSO Council) representative of the Club for Undergraduate Economics Students (CUES) and of Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE). All of these provided me with amazing experiences and allowed me to become a well-rounded person as I continued to be exposed to all kinds of cultures and ethnicities.

Now that I have completed my time at FIU, I plan to enter the workforce and prepare to apply for Graduate School. Because of the experiences I had at FIU, I want to pursue a Master’s in Higher Education to become an Academic Advisor. I’ve always had a passion for helping others and in my opinion, one of the best ways to help is to advise and motivate others as they continue to work towards their educational, financial, and personal goals.
